Spyware Removal Information*

I currently use 4 Spyware Removal tools on a consistent basis:

Ad-aware from Lavasoft - the personal SE version is free. The professional version is available for a minor fee. Install this program and follow the prompts.  Remember to check for updates. Removes most spyware on first pass

Spybot-S&D - This is one of the best FREE products on the market. Please make a donation to keep this product free!!!. Follow the instructions and install the program. Remember to check for updates. Removes most spyware on first pass.

Cleanup from Steve Gould - This is a FREE product. Please make a donation to keep this product free!! This product removes all temporary files in all profiles from you computer. Has a "neat" flushing sound as it cleans.

Hijackthis from Tom Coyote - This is a FREE product. Please make a donation to keep this product free!! THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PIECE OF SOFTWARE RUN IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!  Now with that said, Hijackthis is vwry powerfull and will remove any "browser helper objects" that may have hijacked your Internet Explorer. I use this as a last resort if the other three software did not work.

Additional Tips:

To reset the index.dat file:

Reboot your computer
press F8
Select safe mode with command prompt
type cd\ press enter
type del index.bat /s press enter
When the Delete is finished type shutdown -r press enter

One the Best way to STOP SPYWARE is to dump Internet Explorer and replace it with Firefox. I have replaced Internet Explorer in quite few companies and have had very little compatibility issues.
